In the First District Coast Guard and elsewhere, paddle sports-related fatalities have been trending upwards. The First District is taking a comprehensive approach with regard to paddle craft safety. Efforts underway target ways to ensure that paddle craft safety becomes a priority with all groups involved with paddle craft: manufacturers, distributors, safety professionals, owners and end users of paddle craft. They are relying on the Auxiliary to take the lead in better educating paddlers.
